Or you can call me Holz (pronounces halls not holes). I'm a single mom, living in the outskirts of Pittsburgh, PA, in my early 30s, a grad student, and a full time employee for a State University. Balancing your home life, work life, and school life can be difficult but I'm living proof to all those single mom's out there....
you can do it!!!!
I'm a product of next door neighbors. 90% of family grew up within 3 blocks of each other....and my family is pretty large! My mother's best friends married my dad's brothers. So our family is VERY close.
I'm 25% Cherokee Indian. My great, great, grandparents were Chief Strong and Sucky Strong of Smyrna, TN and were a part of the trail of tears. I hold this part of me very dear to me heart, and love to celebrate my heritage.
When I was younger I dropped out of college. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with my life and I didn't think it was fair to myself to waste all that money. I ended up getting a really great job. It took me a very long time to realize what I wanted to do (at least I realized it...right??). I decided to go back to college and finally earn my bachelor's degree. I graduated December with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Currently I am enrolled in Graduate School for a Master's of Education degree.
I hope that by reading this blog all the single parents out there will know that it's ok and they're not alone! There's an army of us here to encourage you and tell you what an amazing job you're doing.
Mommy's unite!!

Thank you for stopping by. Feel free to take the shoes off, kick up the feet, and stay a while.
